Juniper

about

Juniper is a short film about a woman who wakes up a ghost, exploring the relationship between urbanization and nature, and how the textures of signs, street lights, and density differ in juxtaposition to simplistic landscapes and natural phenomena.

PROCESS

I've always been interested in themes regarding spirituality and transformation, and wanted to create a story based on the transition into ‘the great unknown’. For every personal project, there is a desire to improve my skills: in this case, I really wanted to continue to sharpen my skills in design, animation, and most importantly storytelling. From a technical point of view, I was able to learn the pipeline required in detailed texturing and using Marvelous Designer, a cloth simulation software. The majority of the work was spent modeling and texturing the backgrounds, the urban scenes especially. Rendering each shot took around 10-15 mins per frame, 500 hours total.

Work was done in After Effects, Cinema 4D, Octane, Marvelous Designer, and Megascans.
