Juniper (2018) is a short film about a young woman who wakes up a ghost. I wanted to explore the relationship between urbanization and nature, and how the textures of signs, street lights, and density differ in juxtaposition to simplistic landscapes and natural phenomena.

I've always been interested in themes regarding spirituality and transformation, and wanted to create a story based on the transitory period of an afterlife.
I started writing the script for Juniper last May, and wanted to continue to improve my skills in design, character animation, but most importantly storytelling.
The majority of the work was spent modeling and texturing the backgrounds, the urban scenes especially. Rendering each shot took around 10-15 mins per frame, 500 hours total. Special thanks to the very talented Elizabeth Saydah!

Hedgehogs (2017) is a short film that explores isolation, dualism, and the boundaries between dreams and reality.
How do you characterize loneliness, and how is that juxtaposed in both the mental and physical sense? Can they be tied together?
I grew up watching animated films and have wanted to write my own stories ever since. As the basis for any story from a visual perspective was backgrounds, I spent most of my efforts learning about the process of creating matte paintings and environments for film. From start to finish, the whole project took 10 months.
